Right where the forest meets the sea, with a view of the bridge that connects Zealand with Funen. Hesselet is located in Nyborg, which in the Middle Ages was the place where the king met with the kingdom's most important people. Today, the hotel is a place where everyone meets, and where hospitality turns into homeliness.
The hotel takes its name from the forest in which it stands, and Hesselet means "where the small hazel trees grow." We are proud to be one of Denmark's most beloved nature hotels, and we strive to give all our guests an experience beyond the familiar, whether they stay, dine, or attend a conference at the hotel.
We do this by following our three extra senses: Sense of quality, sense of place, and sense of history.
We use our sense of quality when selecting everything from ingredients in the restaurant to furniture in the rooms and the duvets that provide our guests with the best sleep. We also use it to enhance their experience of being in a place where there is a love for detail and for the nature surrounding us.
Just as we host our guests, one could also say that nature hosts us. So, when we say we have a sense of place, it means that we prefer local ingredients, preferably in season. We follow the course of the seasons and make it an experience for our guests to swim – and even winter swim.
But we also have a sense of history and cherish the tradition that families have had for generations to celebrate christenings, confirmations, weddings, and even diamond weddings at the hotel. So, even though we have promised each other that we will strive to measure ourselves against the very best, we do so without forgetting who we are and what our history is.

Hotel Hesselet has 59 double rooms
in total.
43 double rooms and 4 suites are
furnished in classic style, and 10 double rooms and 2 suites are furnished in
modern style and with terraces.
All rooms have wireless network,
minibar, safe, telephone, TV, electric kettle and hairdryer and bathroom with
double sink, bathtub and separate shower. All nights are incl. large breakfast
buffet and free access to a delicious pampering area with pool, hot tub, heated
chairs, sauna, infrared sauna and fitness room on the lower floor.
Meeting with a View of the Great Belt
Hotel Hesselet’s many meeting rooms make it possible to find the perfect and personal room for your meeting, regardless of the occasion. The conference rooms are equipped with all modern AV and IT equipment and offer wireless internet throughout the area. In the hotel’s largest and newly renovated room, we can accommodate up to 150 people in theater seating. The Hesselet area is the newly built conference section, which includes 2 meeting rooms and a catering area. The rooms can be arranged for conferences, meetings, workshops, or seminars with up to 150 participants.

We are located 5 minutes’ drive from the Storebæltsbroen in
Nyborg, 10 minutes’ walk from Nyborg station and are located in quiet
surroundings between beech forest and the beach.

Hotel Hesselet focuses on the code of conduct. The code of conduct is based on the UN’s Global Compact and consists of 10 principles related to human rights, labor rights, the environment, and anti-corruption.
We are committed to continuous development, including new environmental projects, to ensure we have the right knowledge about working conditions, ethics, and accessibility at the hotel.
We are a member of and have signed an agreement with the industry organization HORESTA.
Tourism’s International Environmental Label: Green Key
Here at Hotel Hesselet, we are Green Key certified. With this certificate, you as a guest are guaranteed an environmentally certified hotel that makes an effort to save water and energy, always ensures the protection of the environment, and continuously implements new environmental improvements in daily operations.
The criteria for becoming Green Key certified include meeting mandatory and optional requirements across 12 areas:
Environmental management, staff involvement, guest information, water, laundry and cleaning, waste, energy, food, smoking and indoor climate, outdoor areas, green activities, and management.
We collaborate with various teambuilding agencies that can help give your meeting educational insights and entertainment both on land and at sea. Regardless of whether you are responsible for a small or large event, we certainly have a solution that fits the need.
In Nyborg there is more than 45 km
of coastline. This means that there are different bathing beaches for every

Nyborg is genuine Funen hospitality, an idyllic coastal town – a hidden
gem – a central hub located in the middle of Denmark. A historic royal
city that hides a story out of the ordinary. Nyborg’s old town center has a
history that goes all the way back to the early Middle Ages.
Today, Nyborg is an obvious gathering point across the country. Both
because of the city’s geographical location. but also because Nyborg provides
world-class hosting. Nyborg is also the gateway to the cycling island of Funen.
Whether you come via the international cycle route or choose one of the many
other cycle routes, Nyborg is at the heart of them all.
Hotel Hesselet is located on the edge of Teglværksskoven. Teglværksskoven
is beautifully situated by the Storebælt, north of Nyborg. The forest is 1.5 km
long and approx. 600 m wide. There are a ton of possible hikes and routes of
approx. 5.5 km through both forest and park.
With a location on the water’s edge to the Storebælt and on the edge of
Teglværksskoven, there is plenty of opportunity for team building activities on
land and at water.
