A green oasis, an organic village, a peaceful retreat, and a gastronomic gathering place. Far away from the city noise, yet still in the heart of the city, you can taste your way through BaneGaarden’s culinary adventures.
The nine old wooden sheds were built in 1909 by DSB to store wood and materials needed for the railway tracks. Since 1950, the sheds have been left unused, allowing nature to grow wild and lush.
Fortunately, DSB chose to preserve the wooden sheds, and four partners joined forces to restore the buildings with support from Realdania and DSB to establish a new food and cultural destination — a green beacon in Copenhagen, where it is now possible to hold meetings, conferences, parties, dinners, and large corporate festivals for up to 1,100 people.

At BaneGaarden, we offer five beautiful barns as plenary rooms, two of which can also be used as breakout rooms. All rooms are equipped with standard AV equipment.
Additionally, there is the option to host a banquet for up to 90 people in a single room, or up to 400 guests across all barns simultaneously.
The Greenhouse: Our greenhouse, which we acquired from the Botanical Garden when they no longer needed it, can accommodate up to 80 people at long tables. The greenhouse is available for booking from May 1st to September 30th. With its high glass roof and surrounded by a green forest in summer, plants and flowers grow inside all the way up to the ridge. It’s a magical place right in the heart of Copenhagen.

The restoration of the wooden sheds is carried out according to the principles of: reuse rather than consumption, craftsmanship rather than haste, natural building materials rather than synthetic, wood instead of concrete and steel, and wood chips instead of tiles.
Each shed was in a different condition, and we have preserved as much as possible in the reconstruction. With a team of experts, the restoration of the sheds continues alongside the ongoing development of BaneGaarden, which never stops.
The nine heritage-listed sheds undergo extensive restoration with respect for sustainable materials and methods.

Learn about
an ancient cooking trick. Fermentation is an ancient method of preserving
vegetables, that people used a long time ago. It is done by usingnature’s
own acid bacteria on the vegetables, especially cabbage.
You can
make your own fermented cabbage with just a few things – salt and a jar
with a tight lid. After about three weeks it’s ready and you can use it in
all kinds of food – as a burger filling or just as an extra side to your
dinner!It tastes great and is healthy because it helps yourgut bacteria and
makes you feel happy in your head.
