The estate’s old stables, built with fieldstones and timber, have been transformed into beautiful suites and single rooms, each with a private bathroom. Every suite carries the name of a horse, a nod to the estate’s proud agricultural past.

?A meeting place with history
?Sonnerupgaard Gods dates back to 1341, and a lot has happened during our, almost, 700 years of history. Maybe you can draw parallels from a piece of our local history to your meeting? Here are some ideas.
1621-1633: Nosey nemesis and the advocate for educating girls
On a cold December evening in Rostock, in the year 1566, Tycho Brahe was in a duel with his compatriot, Manderup Parsberg, a student at the University of Rostock. Parsberg wins the duel when his sword clips the nose of Brahe and cuts most of it off. Manderup later became a great Danish nobleman, a member of the Royal Privy Council to King Christian IV and landowner here at Sonnerupgaard Gods.
Although Parsberg had cut off Tycho Brahe’s nose, the two remained close friends for life and Parsberg married Tychos distant cousin Anne Brahe. Parsberg died in 1625 without an heir, and, unusually for women in the 17th Century, Anne became the owner of the Estate. During her time as a landowner, Anne founded a girls’ school in the parish. She was the Estate owner for eight years until she died in 1633. On the front row pew in Hvalsø Church, you can still see the initials: AB (Anne Brahe) and MP (Manderup Parsberg).
1731: A woman scorned
In 1731, the Manor House was the site of extreme violence. The Estate owner, Severin de Junge, was a director of the Danish West India Company and owned several other farms and estates. The Lady of the manor was Else Bartholin, and she was not to be messed with, so when she discovered Severin was having an affair with one of the service girls, she demanded that the affair should stop immediately.
Severin told her that it was over, but the maid was so distraught that she threatened to burn the estate down. And when he did end the affair, she carried out her threat and set fire to the Manor House. Sadly, she got caught in the flames and died, and ever since then, the area has had the name "Den brændte grav" or The Burnt Grave.
1996-2015: Renovation with respect for history
When Birgitte Israelsen bought the Estate in 1996, she began a radical transformation. Birgitte turned the Estate into a modern training centre that could meet today’s demands yet maintain its charm and history. She converted the Manor House into an incredible meeting area, installed underfloor heating in the barn and built bedrooms and meeting rooms in the stables and the hayloft. Within the first five years at the helm, she increased the Estate’s turnover by 1000%. That’s impressive!
During the renovation, she made sure to keep the original feel. Boulders, wooden beams, and barn doors and windows are still a large part of the solid interior, so you are in no doubt that it was built in 1877.
2015-present: The next generation, Anders & Amalie
In 2015, Birgitte’s son Anders bought the Estate and took over the daily running together with his wife, Amalie. Like his mother, Anders has a tremendous entrepreneurial spirit and there’s still a lot happening at Sonnerupgaard Gods.
Over the last five years, under their guidance, Sonnerupgaard Gods has undergone a comprehensive digital transformation. The marketing and, in particular, the website now reflects the quality of the premises and service. The buildings have also received a high-quality boost. Several bedrooms and meeting rooms have had renovations and modernisations, and there are more on the way.
In 2018, TEAK Gruppen moved onto the Estate as our permanent partners in teambuilding with a dedicated ATV track and permanent teambuilding simulators. In the autumn of 2019, the entire office became certified Meetovators, an innovative concept for companies who want value for money when investing in a meeting, offering clear value and high return on investment.
Presently we are focusing our efforts towards continuing to improve our sustainability and we will be awarded the prestigious Green Key at the end of 2020. And who knows – with a little luck, perhaps we will be the Conference Centre of the Year 2021? This is certainly the ambition of our young estate owners.

Teambuilding tailor-made for your meeting
TEAK Gruppen are our in-house teambuilding consultants. They tailor activities to your meeting goals to ensure that the activities are relevant to your meeting. And they are skilled instructors, so your participants are in safe hands.
At the Activity Centre, TEAK Gruppen has managed to pack 320 square metres with their unique teambuilding simulators, where you and your colleagues can train communication and collaboration. It’s perfect to supplement the theory participants learn in the classroom, so when that theory is put into practice, it really has a lasting impression and becomes much easier to remember.

Escape with energy
Outdoor Action is the little brother of the TEAK Gruppen. They design features that fit into meetings where you want to have fun together and take a break from the agenda. You form a community through the unique experiences you will share, and it gives everyone involved an inner peace, so the energy and positive spirit are renewed before returning to the meeting.
ATV driving is a big hit. We are proud to be the only place in the country where YOU can drive an ATV on a dedicated off-road track. And all this happens on our doorstep in the scenic National Park, Skjoldungernes Land.

2-4 hours including dinner.
When you host your meeting with us, it’s a meeting in the natural beauty of the National Park, Skjoldungernes Land. The scenic surroundings ensure tranquillity and peace of mind, so you and your meeting participants can focus and maintain concentration. The forest and the extensive Estate grounds are ideal for walk-and-talks. At the "The Burnt Grave" you can almost feel the history of the Estate and be inspired by it. And the Tadre Watermill is just a 20-minute walk from here if you want a scenic stroll where everyone gets to wind down.
You can also experience the surrounding nature on four wheels. We have the country’s only dedicated offroad ATV track. Ideal if you want to surprise the participants with an adrenaline-filled and unique feature that no one has ever tried before.?
?Because of our exceptional setting, you can combine an event with unique activities. Surprise colleagues with ATV driving in the National Park or let them loose in the Ball Pit – they’ve certainly never tried anything like it before.
We have plenty of space both inside and out. Take the entire company onto the lawns for a game of rounders or softball, if you just want to relax and have fun together. Or learn line dance in the barn if you want to try something crazy. We are very flexible, and we welcome all your creative touches.
Overnight in our cosy rooms. There are no neighbours, so you can party throughout the night without worrying about the noise level. We are also comfortably close to the city, so that busy colleagues who need to leave early will also be able to join in.
?A roaring bonfire, a whole roast suckling pig and refreshing cocktails. Our Tribute to the Pig makes dinner fun, informal, cosy and relaxed so that your participants can relax and meet each other in a lovely atmosphere.
Hog is our speciality, but we can also make a tribute to the oxen, chicken, halloumi, squash or aubergines if you want to make a more versatile dinner.
